Dr. Rohan Kapoor


Dr. Rohan Kapoor is a native of Georgia, and grew up in Gwinnett County. Dr. Kapoor attended college at the University of Georgia where he graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in Microbiology. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Optometry with honors from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry.

After graduating from optometry school, Dr. Kapoor moved back to Atlanta to complete his Ocular Disease and Refractive Surgery Residency and Board Certification. Through the completion of this specialty training, Dr. Kapoor was able to develop immense experience in assessing and treating patients with ocular diseases such as: dry eye, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, keratoconus, and many more.

After completing residency Dr. Kapoor worked for a number of years in various practice settings as a clinical optometrist in the Gwinnett area. These opportunities allowed Dr. Kapoor to refine his high level skill set of optometric eye care.

Dr. Kapoor joined RLK Eye Associates in early 2022, and has been providing high quality eye care to the greater metro Atlanta community since.

Dr. Kapoor is fluent in English, Punjabi, and Hindi, and has studied numerous years of Spanish. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, playing tennis, weight training, and spending quality time with his wife and two children. He is also a big fan of University of Georgia football.

DR. DEREK BLACK, OD

Optometrist

Dr. Derek Black attended Young Harris College and finished his degree at the University of West Georgia. In 2008, he graduated Cum Laude and earned his Bachelor of Arts in chemistry with a minor in biology. Throughout college, Dr. Black worked as an optician where he developed his passion for eye care. That passion led him to attend the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN.
  
 During his training, Dr. Black gained valuable experience in retinal, corneal, diabetic, and glaucoma eye diseases at the VA Hospital in Memphis, TN. While attending optometry school, Dr. Black was awarded the Health Professions Scholarship by the U.S. Army. In 2013, Dr. Black graduated from The Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN where he earned his Doctorate of Optometry.
  
 Shortly after graduation, Dr. Black was commissioned as an officer with the rank of Captain into the United States Army. During his military career, Dr. Black held positions as Staff Optometrist, Director of Optometric Education, and Chief of Optometry at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Fort Belvoir, VA. For his exemplary performance, Dr. Black received the Joint Service Commendation Medal, The National Defense Medal, The Army Service Medal, and The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
